I’ve recently been made aware of a strange new tribe who refer to themselves collectively—they do everything collectively—as “progressives.” I think they used to call themselves “liberals” until it became clear that they don’t care much for liberty. Males and females in this tribe both tend to wear beards and gather in urban coastal areas, where they pay too much for apartments, water, coffee, and bean sprouts. They speak a strange and exotic tongue unfamiliar to my ears. But they repeat certain terms so frequently, I feel as if I’ve begun to get a handle on what they’re driving at. Syria Ready to Unleash Missiles on Israel

Syria has put its most advanced missiles on standby with orders to hit Tel Aviv if Israel launches another raid on its territory. Reconnaissance satellites have been monitoring preparations by the Syrian army to deploy surface-to-surface Tishreen missiles. An Israeli official told The New York Times that Israel, which has launched three recent attacks on Syria, was considering further strikes and warned President Bashar al-Assad that his government would face “crippling consequences” if he hit back at Israel. The deployment of the Syrian-made Tishreen missiles, each of which can carry a half-ton payload, marks a significant escalation of tension in a region in which the United States and Russia appear to be preparing for a Cold War-style stand-off. Wrong Color in the Wrong Place

No one has been charged with a hate crime. Police have not identified the victim or his family. So no one has had a chance to ask if he was aware he was in a black neighborhood. Or if he ever heard of Routine Activities Theory. Otherwise known as R.A.T. R.A.T. played a central role last year in a Chicago court room where the city had to pay a white woman $22.5 million after she was arrested, then released into a black neighborhood in Chicago. She was assaulted and tossed – or jumped – from a seven-story building, leaving her with permanent brain damage. Cell Towers Are Not What We Are Told

Upon arriving in Mexico City, I noticed that there was what appeared to be a complete lack of cell towers. Yet perfect cell service was everywhere. And that got me wondering, how could a cell phone system work so well with no cell towers around? After stating it on the forum, Bunk Hound got on the American Tower web site and located a few, which I subsequently went to with Google maps, and they were very much like American cell towers. But aside from these which I could locate with a map, there were none to be found and instead there were many tiny cell antennas attached to buildings and roof tops. This is what’s so wonderful about the war on boys. Teachers (who are roughly 75% female) have bolstered girls’ grades in England by including bad behavior in test scores. The Tea Partiers’ problem is that their protests come far too late – because the legal and political precedents targeting dissident groups were established long ago, with the full complicity and even enthusiastic support of most of those who call themselves “conservatives” these days. Boston Becomes Toxic

The fallout from Boston has been more of the same lashing out that we saw post 9/11. Storm Clouds Gathering

This past week, we learned that the IRS has targeted for additional scrutiny the tax exemption applications of groups with whose messages it disagrees. We also learned that the Department of Justice obtained the personal telephone records of hundreds of reporters and editors employed by the Associated Press without a search warrant issued by a judge. Family Attacked for Being in ‘Wrong Neighborhood’

Stubbs said a man wearing a pink shirt was in line trying to pay for gas when Donald Dickerson, 41, started making fun of him, leading to an argument. “The defendant (Dickerson) approached the white male victim,” the police report stated. Boston’s Top Cop Warns Against ‘Police State’

Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis warned against creating a “police state” in the aftermath of the marathon bombings during testimony in front of a congressional hearing today.
