The Pathetic Apologetics of Caroline Glick

aa-Caroline Glick As someone who has written chapters on Jewish apologia and self-deception, I have to say that Caroline Glick may be the most extreme case I have ever encountered. One struggles for words to describe her rabid ethnocentrism and how it blinds her to the most obvious realities. Jews are morally superior paragons of rationality, responsible for everything good in the world, including Western institutions of democracy and individual freedom. With only a few exceptions (non-Jews who accept the tutelage of Jews), non-Jews are, as Brenton Sanderson phrases it, “brutish and irrational embodiments of evil” while Jews are “reasoning, intelligent moral paragons.” Truly breathtaking. It’s terrifying to think that such a person is a highly praised and powerful member not only of the Israeli political establishment but is also a well-established figure in neoconservative circles and the media in the U.S. http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2014/04/the-pathetic-apologetics-of-caroline-glick/#more-22927

Adelson Confidant: Christie Has No Understanding of Israel

aa-Sheldon Adelson confidant of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson has said that he cannot support New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in 2016 because he used the term “occupied territories” in discussing the West Bank in a speech to the Republican Jewish Coalition. “Gov. Christie either has no understanding of the truth of the issues effecting Israel, or he is hostile to Israel,” Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, told The Algemeiner an interview. “Either way, I am very uncomfortable.” Klein, who has led the Zionist organization for 20 years, was referring to the embattled Republican governor’s March 29 speech at Adelson’s Venetian Resort and Hotel in Las Vegas. Christie was among several 2016 presidential hopefuls speaking at the coalition’s spring meeting. A conservative Zionist who believes in a strong national defense, Adelson, 80, poured $98 million into the 2012 elections — and associates say he is seeking a 2016 presidential candidate with broad electoral appeal. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Adelson-Klein-Israel-trust/2014/04/09/id/564739/?ns_mail_uid=53889071

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

aa-American Empire - statue of liberty and military The hubris and arrogance that arises from Washington’s belief that it is the government of the “indispensable and exceptional nation” means Washington has no respect for any other country, nor for law whether its own or international. Washington can invade countries without cause, a war crime. Washington can kidnap and torture people, a crime under U.S. and International law. Washington can ignore the self-determination of peoples, such as Crimeans. Who are mere Crimeans to vote on their own future without Washington’s consent, without Washington determining the outcome? A Newer, Better Cold War

aa-Cold War era poster The same folks who think the invasion of Iraq was “Churchillian” think there’s something sinister about Russia defending its own quite real interests right next door to itself, as opposed to some totally fabricated interests in some desolate sandpit halfway around the world. No, the neo-con echo chamber insists that Putin is a Hitler or a Stalin, because muh freedumbs. Glenn Beck froths at the mouth about how a defiantly traditional country is lurching toward becoming the new “Red Menace.” Grown adults (well, Sean Hannity, anyway) are discussing in the most serious of tones how if only we had listened to Sarah Palin we’d be equipped to deal with this neo-Soviet menace. Conservative Twitter speaks of Palin in reverent tones as some kind of geopolitical-theory heavyweight. After all, she can see Vlad the Invader grabbing the mail in his pants from her living room in Alaska. All this puts professional movement conservatism in precisely the same camp as Hillary Clinton, who recently went there, declaring that Putin is a Hitler. http://takimag.com/article/a_newer_better_cold_war_nicholas_james_pell/print#axzz2vZj1qqOB

Putin Flouts Obama as Neo-Cons Stew

aa-Vladimir Putin - flipping Obama In the latest episode in the ongoing reality show “Death of a Narcissist’ it is almost painful to see the incredible shrinking president Barack Obama continuing to thrash about on his own hook. For the second time in six months he has talked much smack in leading the international law violation machine that is neocon U.S. foreign policy towards yet another crisis from which he has no way of emerging victorious. In the late 1980′s dark comedy “The War of the Roses” the divorce attorney played by Danny DeVito wisely offered up his counsel that “There is no winning! Only degrees of losing!” which Obama would be wise to consider. http://www.opednews.com/articles/Putin-Flouts-Obama-as-Neoc-by-Donn-Marten-Foreign-Influence-On-Elections_Media-Corruption_Media-Manipulation_Neocon-Military-Aggression-140308-882.html

‘F Europe’

aa-neo-cons America’s national security establishment – what used to be known in Britain as imperialists – is now turning its guns on Russia, aided by the US corporate media. Vlad Putin’s Russia has re-emerged as America’s number one enemy. Muslims are out. At times, the Cold War seems to be inching back. The US narrowly escaped a dangerous military clash over President Barack Obama’s intemperate rush to war over Syria. Nuclear powers must not indulge in such school-yard squabbles. World War I, whose 100th anniversary comes this fall, began just this way. Putin’s Russia is no Utopia, but do we really want angry, expansionist Russians again on our eastern borders? Better they focus on Olympic games and shopping sprees. Unlike us, they have not started any wars lately. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article37594.htm#.Uvjd-npixVk.email

A New Year Just Like the Old Year

Jennifer Rubin

Jennifer Rubin

Israel’s friends frequently claim that critics hold Tel Aviv to a higher standard than they do other countries that have similar or worse records on human rights. Actually the truth is quite the reverse, with Israel frequently able to escape censure for actions that would normally result in the imposition of sanctions by the United Nations Security Council and condemnation by other international bodies. I am of course referring to the continued brutal Israeli occupation of much of what remains of Palestine and the ongoing colonization of land that is being appropriated illegally, activity that is only allowed to continue because of Washington’s willingness to protect Israel no matter what cost to other American interests. Some of the gyrations that Israel’s supporters engage in would be describable as comic if the consequences of their obfuscation were not so serious. And there is no one better at throwing mud than Jennifer Rubin, the Washington Post’s designated “Right Turn” blogger who is one of those folks who believe that being in love with Israel is a core conservative value. Rubin can hardly write about any current issue without somehow turning the discussion to poor little Israel, or, alternatively, to evil Iran. http://www.unz.com/article/a-new-year-just-like-the-old-year/

Same Old Neo-Cons

aa-neo-cons - war crimes trial During these holidays we should take a second and send our best wishes to the neocons, poor dears, who are having a bad time during this holy season because their plans have gone awry—for at least the next six months. Ten years ago they were sitting pretty. Saddam had fallen, his chemical and nuclear weapons were about to be discovered, and a new, improved Middle East loomed on the horizon. Well, we all know what a con that was—one that not only cost thousands of American lives, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi ones, and millions of refugees, but also one that turned Uncle Sam from a rich “have” into a heavily indebted “have-not” looking at a Chinese laundryman friend for a loan. The neocons got away with it. They kept their jobs and the roles they play in the media as American patriots, and now they want to repeat the exercise. http://takimag.com/article/same_old_neocons_taki/print#axzz2obbyUzE0

Nor did they act for the citizenry. As in America 2013/2014, they followed personal ambitions. Look where it got them. The Czar is dead and gone, as are the Bolsheviks! The Deadenders

While the rest of the nation has long since passed judgment on George W. Bush’s invasion and occupation of Iraq, a few “deadenders” – as Donald Rumsfeld dubbed the Iraqi insurgents – persist in hailing this disaster as a “victory,” albeit one that has been betrayed by the Obama administration. Even as the most ideological neoconservatives have, one by one, disavowed, apologized for, or otherwise sought to distance themselves from what retired Lt. Gen. William Odom called the “greatest strategic disaster in United States history,” the two Republican Senators most identified with this catastrophe have continued to insist they were right. Now Gen. David Petraeus has joined the tag-team of Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham and taken to the pages of Foreign Policy magazine to make the case – and, in doing so, have merely succeeded in underscoring why they were so wrong to begin with. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2013/10/31/the-deadenders/#.UnOzFrnfXKg.email

Crying Wolf Over Iran

Iran is more sinned against than sinner if one considers the terrorism that has been directed against it, to include the assassinations of its scientists. Israel meanwhile has within recent memory attacked every one of its neighbors while it engages in covert operations directed against Iran primarily but also in Lebanon and possibly in Syria. Neo-Conservatives Despair Over U.S.-Iran Diplomacy

Last week began with a blistering denunciation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Iranian duplicity and ended with diminished prospects for Israel to take direct action to address Iran’s nuclear capabilities .”The Israelis find themselves in a far worse position now than they have been for several years,” concluded Elliott Abrams, a leading neo-conservative who served as George W Bush’s main Middle East adviser, in Foreign Affairs. While Israel could still attack Iran’s nuclear sites on its own, “[i]ts ability to do so is already being narrowed considerably by the diplomatic thaw” between Iran and the United States, Abrams wrote. “It is one thing to bomb Iran when it appears hopelessly recalcitrant and isolated and quite another to bomb it when much of the world – especially the United States – is optimistic about the prospects of talks.” Abrams’ assessment was widely shared among his ideological comrades who believe Israel will be the big loser if hopes for detente between Washington and Tehran gather steam after next week’s meeting in Geneva between Iran and the P5+1 (the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany). http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article36479.htm#.UlawVGnzL_Q.email

It’s amazing to me that anyone with any brains takes neocons seriously. Zionists Remain Hysterical Over Iran

How then explain the semi-hysteria and near panic in circles of this city over the possibility President Obama might meet with President Hassan Rouhani and hold negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program? We hear talk of Hitler in the Rhineland, of a new Munich, of America failing to act as Britain failed to act, until, back to the wall, it had no choice but to fight. The old Churchill quotes are heard once again. But is the Ayatollah Hitler? Is Rouhani von Ribbentrop? Is Iran the Fourth Reich? Should we be very very afraid? Iran, we are told, is the most dangerous enemy America faces. But is this true? Depending on one’s source, Iran’s economy is 2 to 4 percent of ours. After oil and gas, its big exports appear to be caviar, carpets and pistachio nuts. Inflation is unbridled and Iran’s currency is plummeting. http://original.antiwar.com/buchanan/2013/09/23/is-iran-the-fourth-reich/#.UkGPFbaERjc.email

The United States of Syria: Domestic Lessons in a Distant War

On July 23rd, the paper’s op-ed page delivered an in-your-face bravura performance with a brace of pieces that supported National Security Agency (NSA) snooping and also advanced the case for United States direct involvement to topple the Syrian government. Why They Hate Rand Paul

If the “paleo” strategy was such a big mistake, how does Horwitz explain the Ron Paul phenomenon, which propelled a formerly marginal congressman from a rural district in Texas to the leadership of a national movement that today threatens the Republican establishment – and the Democratic establishment as well? The enormously successful Paul for President movement was the direct outgrowth of the very “sect” of libertarianism Horwitz and his buddy Goldberg disdain. John McCain: War Hero or Something Less?

McCain’s own tale of his torture and the confession he recorded for the North Vietnamese comes largely from his book Faith of My Fathers, in which he describes his shame at cooperating with the enemy. But some of McCain’s fellow prisoners, who were tortured and did not collaborate, have challenged his narrative, expressing their belief that McCain was not physically abused at all and that he was well treated. Others who were also in the prison camp dispute that claim. But by McCain’s own account he may have begun cooperating with the North Vietnamese within three days of his capture and was fully on board within two weeks, providing specific intelligence on his aircraft carrier, its aircraft, and the support vessels attached to it, information that was later featured in North Vietnamese radio broadcasts. One account that appeared on a wire service entitled “PW Songbird is Pilot Son of Admiral” reported that McCain may have gone beyond an acceptable level of collaboration in assisting the psychological warfare offensives aimed at American servicemen: “The broadcast was beamed to American servicemen in South Vietnam as a part of a propaganda series attempting to counter charges by U.S. Defense Secretary Melvin Laird that American prisoners are being mistreated in North Vietnam.” http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2013/05/29/john-mccain-war-hero-or-something-less/#.UaddCGGQCpo.email

Who Are The Neo-Conservatives?

The neoconservative movement, which is generally perceived as a radical (rather than “conservative”) Republican right, is, in reality, an intellectual movement born in the late 1960s in the pages of the monthly magazine Commentary, a media arm of the American Jewish Committee, which had replaced the Contemporary Jewish Record in 1945. The Forward, the oldest American Jewish weekly, wrote in a January 6th, 2006 article signed Gal Beckerman: “If there is an intellectual movement in America to whose invention Jews can lay sole claim, neoconservatism is it. It’s a thought one imagines most American Jews, overwhelmingly liberal, will find horrifying. And yet it is a fact that as a political philosophy, neoconservatism was born among the children of Jewish immigrants and is now largely the intellectual domain of those immigrants’ grandchildren”. The neoconservative apologist Murray Friedman explains that Jewish dominance within his movement by the inherent benevolence of Judaism, “the idea that Jews have been put on earth to make it a better, perhaps even a holy, place” (The Neoconservative Revolution: Jewish Intellectuals and the Shaping of Public Policy, 2006). http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article35106.htm#.UaYBgoiT1Kw.email

Kristol Clear

chickenhawk godfather William Kristol

The contradictions inherent in the neocon movement should not surprise anyone as they are anything but coherent on any subjects other than the need to use force to bring about regime change and their love of Israel. The neoconservatives are frequently referred to as “former Trotskyites,” a reference to their founding generation which attended the “intensely radical” City College in New York during the 1930s. Irving Kristol, the so-called father of neoconservatism, and his associates would occupy an alcove in the college cafeteria to discuss both politics and revolution. Those friends included literary critic Irving Howe, sociologist Daniel Bell, and sociologist Nathan Glazer. Though leftist radicals themselves, they were hostile to Joseph Stalin’s increasingly despotic rule in Russia and were much more drawn to the communism of Leon Trotsky, who was then in exile in Mexico. Trotsky advocated rule of the Soviet Union by a vanguard working class as part of a mass political movement that would engage in continuous revolution. As the struggle would ultimately involve the proletariat of all nations, this was perceived as a truly unending international revolution. Kristol carefully disconnected from any whiff of Soviet communism in the post Second World War environment, but he continued to believe in certain aspects of the Trotsky agenda even after he founded the movement that was later to be dubbed neoconservatism in the 1960s. http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2013/05/01/kristol-clear/

Failed by the Fourth Estate

The current drumbeat in the media about Iran sounds suspiciously like what we once heard about Iraq. Iraq was depicted wrongly by nearly all the mainstream media as a threat to the United States and as complicit in 9/11, with hardly anyone challenging the assumptions that were being made to justify the war. We now know that much of the bogus information that was being fed to the Bush White House was produced in the Pentagon at Doug Feith’s Office of Special Plans. So what is Feith doing these days? Is he in jail because he lied to get the United States involved in a war, possibly to benefit Israel? No, he is a Senior Fellow at the Center for National Security Strategies at the Hudson Institute and he has just popped up as a co-author of a featured op-ed in the Washington Post called “Obama’s ‘nuclear zero’ rhetoric is dangerous.” The piece is co-authored by interesting bed fellows, even for Feith: Frank Gaffney, noted Islamophobe, and James Woolsey, former CIA Director who should be best known for his appearance on television within hours of 9/11 to claim that Saddam Hussein was behind the attack. Woolsey, Gaffney and Feith are all associated with the usual neocon “think tanks” (was there ever a more misleading expression?) and all check under their beds every night to make sure that Sharia Law has not crept into the room uninvited. So you might well ask why this collection of clowns and false prophets should be turned loose to opine on a featured page of a leading newspaper so long after they have been wrong about everything? One would have to ask the editorial page editor Fred Hiatt for the answer to that one, but scaremongering about Muslims and Islamic radicalism is par for the course at the Washington Post, all part of the “Iran/Radical Islam threat” which as we all know is soon coming to a city near you. http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2013/04/03/failed-by-the-fourth-estate/

Neo-Con War Addiction Threatens Our Future

by Ron Paul. The neo-con ideology promotes endless war, but neo-cons fight their battles with the blood of others. From the comfortable, subsidized offices of magazines like the Weekly Standard, the neo-conservatives urge the United States to engage in endless war – to be fought by the victims of the “poverty draft” from states where there are few jobs. Ironically, these young people cannot find more productive work because the Federal Reserve’s endless money printing to keep the war machine turning has destroyed our economy. The six trillion dollars that will be spent on the Iraq war are merely pieces of printed paper that further erode the dollar’s purchasing power now and well into the future. It is the inflation tax, which is the most regressive and cruel of all. http://original.antiwar.com/paul/2013/03/24/neo-con-war-addiction-threatens-our-future/

Ten Years Later: When is the Reckoning?

Feith and his co-conspirators not only refuse to own up to authoring the greatest military disaster in American history, they are “proud” of it, as Dick Cheney recently proclaimed. A government investigation into whether Feith and his fellows deliberately palmed off false “intelligence” to justify the Iraq invasion was quashed. To this day, not a single US government official has been held accountable, and the pro-war pundits – who spent over a decade relentlessly agitating for the war – are in their same perches, war-birds screeching for the destruction of Iran. There is much talk of the “lessons” the war has supposedly taught us, and there is a significant debate about this, but what’s clear is the lesson learned by the architects of this war: that being a neocon means never having to say you’re sorry. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2013/03/17/ten-years-later-when-is-the-reckoning/

Infantile Conservatism

"conservative" Jennifer Rubin

Regularly now, The Washington Post, as always concerned with fairness and balance, runs a blog called “Right Turn: Jennifer Rubin’s Take From a Conservative Perspective.” The blog tells us what the Post regards as conservatism. On Monday, Rubin declared that America’s “greatest national security threat is Iran.” Do conservatives really believe this? How is America, with thousands of strategic and tactical nuclear weapons, scores of warships in the Med, Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, bombers and nuclear subs and land-based missiles able to strike and incinerate Iran within half an hour, threatened by Iran? Iran has no missile that can reach us, no air force or navy that would survive the first days of war, no nuclear weapons, no bomb-grade uranium from which to build one. All of her nuclear facilities are under constant United Nations surveillance and inspection. And if this Iran is the “greatest national security threat” faced by the world’s last superpower, why do Iran’s nearest neighbors – Turkey, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan – seem so unafraid? http://www.lewrockwell.com/buchanan/buchanan301.html

Rubio Would Expand ‘Liberal International Order’

Chosen by the party brass to deliver the GOP response to the State of the Union address last week, Rubio, a bilingual Floridian of Cuban descent, delivered his address in both English and Spanish, while confining his criticism of the president to domestic economic policies. On Friday, however, he was on the Foreign Policy magazine website with an article taking Obama to task over his handling of international affairs. His critique of the Obama doctrine reads like standard-issue neocon talking points, suggesting that a Rubio foreign policy would be little different, if at all, from that of George W. Bush — or Barack Obama. http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/item/14556-rubio-would-expand-liberal-international-order

Does the War Party Have a Peace Caucus?

Chuck Hagel’s confirmation process has been the most depressing episode in the Republican foreign-policy debate since George W. Bush was president, not least because the debate is still constrained by terms set by John McCain and impersonators such as Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte. Hagel may be flawed, but Senate Republicans have largely subjected the would-be Obama defense secretary to a show trial for his modest dissents from the Bush administration as a GOP senator from Nebraska. Among many of Hagel’s former colleagues, the idea that Bush’s Iraq policy was anything less than an unqualified success somehow remains controversial. Worse, none of the Tea Party freshmen took the opportunity to distinguish themselves from their colleagues in the hearings. This is to be expected of Marco Rubio, who has made his hawkish inclinations plain, but not the trio of senators endorsed by Ron Paul—Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and his son Rand Paul. http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/does-the-war-party-have-a-peace-caucus-99/

A funny thing happened on the way to the jihadi takeover of America. It got lost. Same goes for Islamist radical attacks on American interests overseas – it’s just not happening to the degree that our favorite jihad hunters here in the U.S have been ranting about for the last 12 years. The Neo-Cons Get More Outrageous

Lindsey Graham

Listening to FOXnews on Sunday evening, January 6, I was impressed by the oceans of venom that greeted the nomination of Chuck Hagel for secretary of defense. At 6:30 PM, the usually sober Brit Hume remarked for the umpteenth time that this “nominee was a strange choice” and one who was clearly unsuited for the position he sought. I then listened to Bill Kristol tell us how shocked he was by Obama’s appointment. According to Kristol, the President should have nominated “someone else,” including a Democratic feminist who Kristol deemed to be good on “defense needs” (read bending to the will of the Likud coalition in Israel). The other panelists in a discussion group on FOX that followed the evening news deferred to the smirking Weekly Standard editor, who spent about ten minutes dumping on the nominee, without ever taking the grin off his face. After this display of animosity, we got to see several Israeli dignitaries rage against Hagel as an enemy of the Jewish state. We then beheld the “conservative” Senator from South Carolina Lindsay Graham, indicating that he would never vote for this odious nominee. (John Podhoretz in the New York Post actually referred to the same person as an “ugly choice.”) Although, unlike Graham, Hagel was a decorated warrior during the Vietnam War, it seems that Chuck could not meet Graham’s exacting patriotic standards. We know that Graham is a special kind of patriot because he predictably supports John McCain, every time that Arizona senator calls for military action somewhere in the Solar System. Like McCain, Graham slams other politicians who, in his judgment, do not back the Israeli government unconditionally at all times. http://lewrockwell.com/gottfried/gottfried130.html

Hagel Nomination: The Revenge of the Realists

It’s as if a poisonous wind had swept across this country in the wake of 9/11, emanating from Washington and New York, and rippling outward until it scorched the very air with its coruscating vapors. Time and nature – human nature – have healed the political landscape, but the poisonous vapors persist – leached into the very soil, contaminating the discourse with the neoconservative narrative. That narrative – that anyone who questions our foreign policy of belligerent entitlement and untrammeled militarism is a traitor and appeaser of “terrorism” – is being repeated verbatim in the fit of vituperation aimed at Hagel. His assailants are the very same neoconservative pundits who have been spectacularly wrong about everything, from the existence of alleged Iraqi WMD to their goofy idea that they would somehow “export democracy” to the wild of Iraq and Afghanistan. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2013/01/10/hagel-nomination-the-revenge-of-the-realists/

Why the War Party Fears Chuck Hagel

Neo-con hostility to Hagel is rooted in a fear that in Obama’s inner councils his voice would be raised in favor of negotiating with Iran and against a preventive war or pre-emptive strike. But if Obama permits these assaults to persuade him not to nominate Hagel, he will only be postponing a defining battle of his presidency, not avoiding it. For Bibi Netanyahu is going to be re-elected this January. And the government he forms looks to be more bellicose than the last. And Bibi’s highest priority, shared by his neocon allies, is a U.S. war on Iran in 2013. If Obama does not want that war, he is going to have to defeat the war party. Throwing an old warrior like Chuck Hagel over the side to appease these wolves is not the way to begin this fight. http://original.antiwar.com/buchanan/2012/12/27/why-the-war-party-fears-hagel/

The Neocowardice of Rich Lowry

Rich Lowry

Imagine if Al Franken gave you a call and offered to fight you. A real fight, too—no gloves, no clock, and no rules. Would you do it? Rich Lowry, editor of National Review, would not. He explained it all in his sniveling and aptly titled piece “Why I Won’t Fight Al Franken.” Apparently in 2000 Franken was looking for a fight because Lowry had been publicly lamenting the way “liberals and feminists” were promoting “the feminization of America.” So Franken challenged him to put his money where his mouth was, and Lowry pussied out. It’s not that Lowry “feminized out”—he “pussied out,” which is how people who aren’t pussies would describe it. “Lowry may have the guts to slam Hagel on the Web, but he can’t even muster up the courage to fight Al Franken, let alone serve in the military he wants to see march across the globe.” When all of this happened, Lowry was 32 while Franken was 49 and had a bad back. http://takimag.com/article/the_neocowardice_of_rich_lowry_gilbert_cavanaugh/print#axzz2GCmA3efp

Romney’s Neo-Cons

In the public mind, the word “neocon” is unalterably associated with war, and further: with a losing, futile, disastrous war. For any candidate for the presidency to be associated with them and their failed policies is electoral poison. No wonder they’ve gone back into the closet, so to speak, although they certainly have not folded up their tents and stolen into the night: far from it, as their penetration of RomneyWorld underscores. What the neocons are hoping to get out of Romney is the same sort of hegemony they enjoyed during the Bush era: after all, how hard would it be to fill the empty vessel of Romney’s mind just as they did Dubya’s? In order to get into that position, however, it’s necessary to utilize stealth tactics, and Zakheim (as well as his candidate) understands that. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2012/11/01/romneys-neocons/

Globalist Think Tank Suggests Using Engineered Event as Excuse For War With Iran

What is interesting about this discussion by the Washington Institute For Near East Policy, a neo-con (Globalist) think-tank, is that its primary purpose is not necessarily to debate the current political elements of the Iranian question. They aren’t contemplating the viability or morality of a war with Iran. Instead, they are attempting to devise strtegies by which the government could CONVINCE the American public and the world that a war with Iran is the “right thing to do”, even if it means fabricating their own justification. For them, the war is a forgone conclusion, and they will do anything to make it a reality. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2012-09-26/guest-post-globalist-think-tank-suggests-using-engineered-event-excuse-war-iran

Maureen Dowd on Slithering Neocons: Why Isn’t the ADL Outraged?

Maureen Dowd recently wrote a column dripping with what is routinely labeled “anti-Semitism” by the ADL and other guardians of political correctness (“Neocons Slither Back“). Most commentators focused on her claim that Dan Senor is Mitt Romney’s guru on all things related to Israel. Of course, no one would say there was anything sinister about saying that Karl Rove had inordinate influence on Bush on domestic issues. It’s only a problem when a Jew is said to have influence; the implicit (ridiculous) theory is that no Jew could ever have a strong influence on a president, especially on issues related to Jewish ethnic interests—prototypically Israel. As usual, the actual facts are irrelevant. Simply saying that a Jew has such influence crosses the line—even though Dowd never mentions that Senor is a Jew. http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2012/09/maureen-dowds-non-bombshell/

Maureen Dowd Accuses the Neo-Cons of Fomenting War — and is Promptly Tarred as an Anti-Semite

Rabid feminist Maureen Dowd is the latest to be smeared as 'anti-Semitic'

In the last day or two we have seen one of the most remarkable policings of the discourse that I’ve ever seen; and it seems to be one man’s achievement, Jeffrey Goldberg, in asserting that the longtime New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd was anti-Semitic in saying that the Romney braintrust includes the same guys who started the Iraq war. It is remarkable because so many people inside the Beltway have heeded Goldberg; even Joe Klein in defending Dowd says that she was crude – this from a man who wrote openly of Jewish neoconservatives, which Dowd didn’t do – and so the line has held: the idea that we are allowed to debate the Jewish neoconservatives’ role in the Iraq war for the sake of Israel, well that is an anti-Semitic idea. As Goldberg says, it is the idea that the gentiles didn’t start that war, but were manipulated into it by the likes of Wolfowitz and Feith. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article32490.htm

Baiting the Bear

I confess that I cannot quite understand the campaign by the neoconservatives and also a number of leading Democrats to vilify Russia and confront it at every opportunity. The Cold War has been over for more than 20 years, but some appear to want to revive it. Russia has evolved into a developing democracy, has a relatively free press, has a judiciary that functions at least some of the time, is natural-resource rich, and has an economy that is now linked to the rest of the world and is doing reasonably well. On the negative side, it is plagued by corruption and cronyism as well as increasing authoritarianism, but the average Russian enjoys freedoms never experienced in Soviet days and can also see steady improvement in the standard of living. The country’s president, Vladimir Putin, continues to be supported by most Russians, though dissent is admittedly growing over his clear reluctance to give up power. http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2012/08/22/baiting-the-bear/

Which brings me to Likud, whose charges of anti-Semitism against all its critics make it possible—in the late Alexander Cockburn’s words—to always tell when Israel is in the wrong. Pro-Likud neocons played a large part in launching Iraq’s destruction. Israel’s right wing wanted Iraq permanently enfeebled. They got their wish. The same forces are now driving the current American confrontation with Iran and the shameful abandonment of the Palestinians. In the meantime, Israel’s citizens remain deeply at odds over their democracy’s future. The unraveling of Netanyahu’s coalition after a mere 10 weeks is proof that the influx of Jews from the former Soviet Union and a high birthrate in the ultra-Orthodox community mean that democracy itself is under threat. Activists claim that starting in 2010, the Israeli Parliament has passed more than 25 bills to limit freedom of speech and of the press. The Neo-Conservative War Criminals in Our Midst

At the Nuremberg Trials of the defeated Germans after World War II, the U.S. government established the principle that naked aggression–the American way in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Pakistan, and Yemen–is a war crime. Therefore, there is a very strong precedent for the State Department to round up those neoconservatives who are fomenting more war crimes. But don’t expect it to happen. Today, war criminals run the State Department and the entire U.S. Government. They are elected to the presidency, the House, and the Senate, and appointed to the federal courts as judges. American soldiers, such as Bradley Manning, who behave as the State Department expects German soldiers to have behaved, are not honored, but are thrown into dungeons and tortured while a court marshall case is concocted against them. Hypocrisy is Washington’s hallmark, and all but the most delusional are now accustomed to their rulers speaking one way and behaving in the opposite. Globalists and Neo-Cons: Two Potent Forces Opposing the Assad Government in Syria

Writing in The Guardian, Charlie Skelton has produced a remarkable piece of journalism aimed at unearthing the connections among the Syrian opposition and their friends in high places in the West. The take home message is that there are two groups of non-Syrians who are promoting regime change: globalists and neocons — two powerful forces indeed. One can certainly understand that there would be disaffected Syrians — there are dissidents in every regime, and especially so in a society riven with religious and ethnic divisions with a government dominated by an ethnic and religious minority, the Alawites. He was arsenic in the party’s bloodstream for a reason so self-evident that it doesn’t much matter what Chilcot concludes. Everyone, or almost everyone, knows it all anyway: that he struck the deal with Bush long before he admits; that it was mendacious drivel to claim Jacques Chirac refused to countenance a second UN resolution “under any circumstances”; that the intelligence was cynically stripped of all caveats for political purposes; and that, in terms of foreign policy catastrophe, Iraq makes Suez seem a trifling diplomatic gaffe on a par with mis-seating the Panamanian ambassador at a banquet. Behind the Crack-up of the Right

Like 19th-century Marxists, neocons envision a future that is utopian—i.e., it is unattainable. For in the real world, history, faith and culture shape peoples, and peoples shape countries to reflect who and what they are. Nations constructed from ideological blueprints like the Soviet Union of Vladimir Lenin and the China of Mao Zedong eventually collapse when their ruling ideas collide fatally with reality and human nature. The one great success of the neocons came about by accident. In the shock of 9/11, George W. Bush was converted to global democratic revolution “to end tyranny in our world.” And off we marched. And after decade-long wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, we reaped the harvest: 6,500 dead, 40,000 wounded, trillions in debt, a nation divided and pandemic hatred of America across the Islamic world. Perhaps the new wars for which our neocons clamor in Syria and Iran will prove at last the great leap forward into the brave new world of their dreams. http://takimag.com/article/behind_the_crack_up_of_the_right_patrick_buchanan/print#axzz1yeXiSpxv

Hubris as the Evil Force in History

Hubris returned to America with the neoconservative ascendency. Hubris is in full flower despite its defeats. The “three week” Iraq war lasted eight years, and after 11 years the Taliban control more of Afghanistan than the “world’s only superpower.” Sooner or later American hubris is going to run up against Russia and China, neither of which will give way. The Washington Post Gets Tough With Iran

I don’t know if The Washington Post employs fact checkers on its op-eds or editorials, but it would probably be a waste of time to ask. Featuring op-eds by folks who have long advocated harsh measures up to and including preemptive war against Iran and pretending that it is some kind of reliable analysis based on solid evidence when it is anything but and then following up with an editorial making the same points is a typical pattern for Fred Hiatt and his neocon editorial cronies. I would like to see Hiatt come up with a solid, fact-based case explaining why a war with Iran would produce a good result for the United States, because that is really the only argument justifying American involvement in such an enterprise. And let’s leave “Israel’s security concerns” out of it. How Bill Kristol Purged the Arabists

Neo-con armchair warlord William Kristol

Kristol’s point: Refuse to toe the neo-con line on Israel, and you have no future in the Republican Party. Ben Ami seemed equally exultant: “We’ve won the war; we won the war,” he told the audience. Neo-Con Godfather: Lieberman will be Secretary of State in Romney Administration

On Tuesday at Manhattan’s B’nai Jeshurun Synagogue during a debate with J Street founder and President Jeremy Ben-Ami, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol predicted that the next U.S. Secretary of State in a Romney administration would be Senator Joe Lieberman. Although Kristol is typically wrong in his rosy predictions about the outcome of the many wars of “Muslim liberation” in which he has advocated American involvement, he is far more reliable when it comes to forecasting GOP political appointments. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article31380.htm

Shed No Tears For Dickie Lugar

The great and the good are mourning the primary-elections defeat of Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana, lamenting the loss of one of the last “reasonable,” “sensible,” and of course, “serious” Republicans in the eyes of the national media. Why did the media love him? While Sen. Lugar was specifically targeted by conservative groups, his voting record was not especially Left-leaning. He was said to have a good relationship with Barack Obama but this was exaggerated; he usually cast a reliable vote against the President’s agenda. Instead, the media’s love and his constituents’ scorn were driven by his “internationalist” foreign policy and his support for illegal immigrant amnesty. In both cases, Sen. Lugar did his best to follow the approved liberal guidelines, support establishment consensus, and dampen populist impulses by whites. His entire career was a tight-rope act: seek the love of the Washington establishment while doing just enough to win reelection in a generally conservative state. In the end, the increasing radicalization of conservatives made it impossible for him to maintain that balance. http://amren.com/news/2012/05/shed-no-tears-for-richard-lugar/

Getting slightly off topic, I know. Good riddance to Dickie Lugar. So why do the Arizona voters keep re-electing that senile, warmongering lunatic jew-tool Johnny McCain? Or the other 90-some senators who voted for NDAA?

Raymond

These Christian "charities" and churches are aiding and abetting the third-world transformation and White genocide of this country and are every bit our enemies as the jews. It's one big reason I want nothing more to do with Christ-insanity--it is virulently anti-White and the churches have allowed themselves to be co-opted by the jews and also have their nice 501(c)3 exemption. These self-hating White "Christians" should be the first ones to be on the receiving end of the non-Whites' savagery when the SHTF. They brought it on themselves.

BZ,I don't have any numbers for Indiana,it has been said that as many as 60,000 are in the Minneapolis area, and possibly 30,000 in the Columbus area,I know that they have been brought to Pittsburgh,Atlanta, and Phoenix, the religious charities are very active in the the process,it is anyones guess as to how many guilt laden White liberals approve of what can only be called an invasion.

Bobzilla

@LabMan... Please elaborate on your comment that Somali / Bantu have been moved into Indiana communities. I was not aware of this. Can you provide any additional details? I did a quick search and found a reference to some Somali's which may have moved into the Ft. Wayne area. Are you aware of others? As to Dick Lugar... the man was a useless, pompous, establishment twit. Good riddance. I just can't believe the people of Indiana kept him around as long as they did. Then again, Indiana went the way of Obanma in the last election which pretty much says it is some place I probably don't want to live. It is getting harder and harder to find places that are livable (politically speaking).

LabMan

The voters of Indiana also have seen what the influx of Somali-Bantu have done to other cities and states, namely Lewiston Maine which was once 90% White, and they want to keep their areas 90% White also, just fighting for their grandkids future.

Marco Rubio: Tomorrow’s Man — or Yesterday’s?

Among the GOP victories in 2010, none was sweeter than that of Marco Rubio. The charismatic young Cuban-American challenged Gov. Charlie Crist in a Senate primary, ran him out of the party and swept to victory by 19 points in a three-way race. Among those mentioned as running mates for Mitt Romney, it is Rubio who generates the most excitement. That he is young, Hispanic and conservative, and his place on the ticket might secure Florida, are the cards he brings to the table. So it was a surprise this week to see Rubio being chaperoned over to the Brookings Institution by Sen. To Avoid Being Locked Up in Canada Cheney Stays Locked Up at Home

Through a spokesperson Cheney indicated he was frightened to return to Canada after his experience last September 26 at the Vancouver Club. Neo-Con Radio Shows Losing Advertisers

Rush Limbaugh made the right-wing talk-radio industry, and he just might break it. Because now the fallout from the “slut” slurs against Sandra Fluke is extending to the entire political shock-jock genre. Premiere Networks, which distributes Limbaugh as well as a host of other right-wing talkers, sent an email out to its affiliates early Friday listing 98 large corporations that have requested their ads appear only on “programs free of content that you know are deemed to be offensive or controversial (for example, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Leykis, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity).” http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/10/rush-limbaugh-scandal-proves-contagious-for-talk-radio-advertisers.html

I don't care at all for Limbaugh and his ilk, but this is just another example of the cowardice that infects America's "leaders". I doubt that Limbaugh listeners were at all offended by his comments, any more than Imus' "nappy-headed ho's" comment offended his fans. Some miniscule (but organized) groups start whooping about boycotts, and advertisers, fearing they'll lose a buck, start backpedalling. Why take a chance when there is no reward for courage from RL's big, but unorganized, fan base? We shouldn't celebrate this just because it's happening to neo-con cretins. The same cowardly mentality leads congressmen to believe that their careers would be over if they ever said "No" to Israel. Safer to knuckle under than to stand up to bullying only to find out too late that boobus is uneducable.

Hope in the Belly of the Beast

Under our system of elected oligarchy, whoever screams the loudest gets the biggest piece of the policy pie. Since most normal Americans don’t think about foreign policy issues except when it’s thrown in their faces – a major war breaks out, or if the blowback from one of our overseas extravaganzas takes them by surprise – the debate on this subject is dominated by a triad of special interest groups: 1) The military-industrial complex, otherwise known as war profiteers, 2) the neoconservatives, who believe in perpetual war as a matter of high principle, and 3) the well-organized and wealthy Israel lobby, which has as its mandate to keep the US engaged not only with Israel but with the global network of protectorates, alliances, and client states that make up the American Empire. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2012/02/26/hope-in-the-belly-of-the-beast/

Fox News Lunatic Tucker Carlson: ‘Iran Deserves to Be Annihilated’

Bowtie boy Tucker Carlson

This is Orwellian language in action. Carlson states that because the U.S. has moral authority (we’re the good guys) and do not seek hegemony, the U.S. can destroy Iran (and all its people?) in a pre-emptive strike because they’re evil (the bad guys). This “good/bad” comparison is overt in this clip, but always covert in U.S. corporate media coverage: the U.S. is “good” and Iran is “bad” (remember from W. Bush they are among the “axis of evil”). Univision Goes Neo-Conservative

Haim Saban

It’s not often that Univision, the leading Spanish-language television network in the United States, releases its content in languages other than Spanish. It is, after all, a Spanish-language television network. But earlier this month the broadcaster did something out of the ordinary, screening an English version of a recent report on Iran that’s received a rapturous reception from neoconservatives in Washington. And it at least appears to have done so at the behest of its hawkish new fan club. Why would a network best known for sappy telenovelas shift to producing sloppy war propaganda – and English-language propaganda at that? Perhaps, as is usually the case with the corporate press, Univision’s bias and peculiar programming choices are best explained by simply noting who owns it: Israeli-American businessman Haim Saban, a self-described “one-issue guy” – that issue being Israel – who has been up front about purchasing media outlets to promote his own political views. http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2012/02/201221584750141923.html

On to Tehran — Or Is It Damascus?

Our War Party has been temporarily diverted from its clamor for war on Iran by the insurrection against the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad. Estimates of the dead since the Syrian uprising began a year ago approach 6,000. And responsibility for the carnage is being laid at the feet of the president who succeeded his dictator-father Hafez al-Assad, who ruled from 1971 until his death in 2000. Unlike Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak, who buckled, broke, and departed after three weeks of protests, Bashar is not going quietly. Leo Strauss — Immigration Enthusiast?

Leo Strauss

For many, Leo Strauss is a man of mystery. Was he, as Myles Burnyeat of Cambridge University suggested many years ago in The New York Review of Books, a “sphinx without a secret”, not a genuine philosopher but rather a proponent of “ruthless anti-idealism” who provided intellectual backing for an aggressive American foreign policy? Kevin MacDonald takes a different view, holding that “Strauss crafted his vision of an aristocratic elite manipulating the masses as a Jewish survival strategy.”(MacDonald, Cultural Insurrections, Occidental Press 2007, p.163). In his illuminating book Leo Strauss and the Conservative Movement in America: A Critical Appraisal, the distinguished intellectual historian Paul Gottfried rejects what these approaches have in common: their picture of Strauss as an enemy of liberal democracy. Though Strauss earned the respect of the rightwing legal theorist Carl Schmitt, he was by no means, Gottfried maintains, a man of the Right. To the contrary, and despite some ambiguous remarks made early in his career, he remained throughout his long sojourn in America a convinced liberal democrat. http://www.vdare.com/articles/leo-strauss-immigration-enthusiast

The Return of the Chickenhawks

What a joy to see Ron Paul take down Newt “Chickenhawk” Gingrich in front of millions of Americans. Slogging through fifteen Republican presidential debates was totally worth it just to witness this defining moment. Dianne Sawyer, who sounded like she was on Quaaludes, raised her eyebrows quizzically as she asked him if he stood by his previous characterization of Newt as a “chickenhawk.” Her tone implied she thought this a little harsh. Paul took this opening and ran with it: “I think people who don’t serve when they could and they get three or four or even five deferments – they have no right to send our kids off to war … I’m trying to stop the wars, but at least, you know, I went when they called me up.” Ouch! I need a little help here from any of my fellow White Nationalists who are talented with photography. I'm studying the face of this guy Gary Bauer, and I would swear on a stack of Nationalist Times newspapers that I see a slight discoloration on his chin. Why, it almost looks like a bruise that has had a little makeup dabbed on it to make it a little less noticeable. Does everyone see what I'm talking about? Anyway, when I noticed that bruise, I began to let my imagination wander a little and the thought crossed my mind that a bruise like that could very easily be made by a small, bag-like object that, let's say, had a couple of heavy, round, golf ball shaped objects inside it - that, due to some mysterious rhythmic motion of some unexplained kind, would cause the bag containing those ball shaped objects to slap repeatedly against his chin. Anyway, could someone who is extra talented with Photoshop blow that picture up and see if there might be a Circle K or a Circle U or some other sign that indicated kosher approval?

Ron Paul and the Future of American Foreign Policy

How do we pay for our overseas empire? The same way we pay for our burgeoning welfare state: by monetizing the debt, i.e. degrading the currency by creating “money” out of thin air, and inflating the bubble until it bursts again. This has been Paul’s issue from the beginning, and it’s a powerful one: it has substantially shaped the political discourse, with the other candidates forced to jump on board the anti-Fed bandwagon. This is the Ron Paul Effect, and it has Dorothy and the War Street Journal running scared. Here is a conservative populist who is challenging their power, and in the very redoubt of neoconservative orthodoxy, the GOP! They who have always lived in fear of the rest of the country – in fear of the day those peasants with pitchforks gather in the streets below and yank them out of their Manhattan towers – are seeing in Paul their worst nightmare come true. That accounts for the spittle on Rabinowitz’s cruel lips as she likens a gentle country doctor to the architect of the Holocaust. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2011/12/29/ron-paul-and-the-future-of-american-foreign-policy/

Constitutional Neo-Conmen

Neo-cons like Levin, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh who now fancy themselves as constitutionalists since there is a Democrat in the White House are hypocrites of the first order. All during the eight years of the Bush regime their standard response to anyone who would object to the PATRIOT Act and myriad other attacks on constitutional liberty was to proclaim that “9/11 changed everything.” Translation: the hell with the constitution; we’re engaged in a never-ending “war on terra,” as George W. Bush called it. We need to destroy our constitutional liberties in order to protect our constitutional liberties, they told us. It is the hatred of those liberties by people in the Middle East that caused the terrorists to attack us on 9/11, they ludicrously proclaimed (and still do). War is not just “the health of the state,” as Randolph Bourne sagely stated in his famous essay of that title; it is the health of unlimited and unconstitutional government. Governmental powers always ratchet up during wartime at the expense of constitutional liberty (and prosperity) despite the fact that every federal politician, and every soldier, takes an oath to do the opposite – to defend the Constitution. http://lewrockwell.com/dilorenzo/dilorenzo222.html

Marco Rubio vs. Rand Paul

Rubio was pushing to have the U.S. Senate pressure Obama into fast-tracking Georgia into NATO, making Tbilisi an ally the United States would be obligated by treaty to go to war to defend. Now it is impossible to believe a senator, not a year in office, dreamed this up himself. Some foreign agent of Scheunemann’s ilk had to have had a role in drafting it. And for whose benefit is Rubio pushing to have his own countrymen committed to fight for a Georgia that, three years ago, started an unprovoked war with Russia? Who cooked up this scheme to involve Americans in future wars in the Caucasus that are none of our business? The answer is unknown. What is known is the name of the senator who blocked it—Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul, who alone stepped in and objected, defeating Rubio’s effort to get a unanimous vote. The resolution was pulled. A new formulation has been creeping into the invective. Showdown at Neo-Con Central

I thought I detected an elegiac note in Paul’s remarks, a sadness in his voice as he pleaded with his audience not to throw away the Founders’ gift “so carelessly.” As if he fears that they probably will, anyway. There is reason for pessimism: we are, after all, living in a time when a half-baked professional bloviator like Gingrich is considered a conservative “intellectual.” With the help of the “mainstream” media – which would like nothing more than to see the singularly unattractive and baggage-laden Gingrich up against their hero Obama – the Newtster is having his moment in the sun. It will, however, be a brief moment – and he’s not really running for president anyway. Everyone knows his campaign has been a vanity project and moneymaking operation from the outset. Quietly gaining traction, the growth and development of the Paulian movement occurring largely beneath the media’s radar, the Paul campaign has achieved tremendous gains for the peace movement in America. No matter how it ends, it has created a new chapter in the history of the foreign policy discourse in this country: anti-interventionism is no longer considered the exclusive preserve of the “radical” left. For the first time since the 1930s, the anti-imperialist tendency in American conservatism is in the ascendant: the Old Right is back, more organized and intellectually coherent than ever. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2011/11/24/showdown-at-neocon-central/

Who Won the Iraq War?

The White House launched a thunderous, utterly shameless propaganda campaign about phony threats to America and the world from President Saddam Hussein’s non-existent weapons of mass destruction.
