Dictatorship Watch: Sheriff Bradshaw and the Palm Beach County Psihuska
“What does it hurt,” asked Sheriff Ric Bradshaw of Florida’s Palm Beach County, “to have somebody knock on the door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’” The answer to that question obviously depends on the identity of the “Somebody” who is making that inquiry. What Sheriff Bradshaw had in mind was a strike force composed of deputies, social workers, and “mental health” professionals from a “Behavioral Sciences Unit” (BSU) who would be on-call twenty-four hours a day, ready to be deployed to visit the homes of what the Soviets used to call “socially dangerous people.” In the Soviet Union, such people would often be involuntarily committed to a psihuska, or psychiatric prison. http://lewrockwell.com/grigg/grigg-w323.html

Cultural Marxist Insanity Watch: Arizona Couple Sues Walmart Over Kids’ Bath Photos
In 2008, Lisa and Anthony “A.J.” Demaree took their three young daughters on a trip to San Diego. They returned home to Arizona and brought photos of their then 5, 4 and 1 1/2 year old daughters to a local Walmart in Peoria to be developed. That should have been that, except instead of receiving 144 happy familial memories, Walmart employees reported the Demarees to the Peoria Police Department on the suspicion that they had taken pornographic images of their children. The police, in turn, called in the Arizona Child Protective Services Agency, and the couple lost custody of their daughters for over a month. http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/ariz-couple-sues-walmart-over-kids-bath-photos-114806960–abc-news-savings-and-investment.html

Trying To Reform Government is Largely a Waste of Time
The truth is government is like rust. It never sleeps. Government grows for its own sake and it has no intention to stay limited. Every bureaucracy, once taken root, will grow as long as someone feeds it. Whereas private companies celebrate when they spend less to achieve more, government values the opposite things. Have you ever noticed how government always measures its success in terms of how much money it spends? It’s impossible to give government agencies enough money for anything. The more poorly they spend existing money, the better opportunity they have to clamor for more cash: “We never had enough to do the job right in the first place.” http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=48277

Totalitarian Hysteria Watch: Discussion About Toy Nerf Gun Causes Lockdown at Bronx Elementary Schools
Panicked parents rushed to the two schools on Fulton Avenue and East 174th Street today after heavily armed police were called to respond to reports of a gun on campus. The alarm was caused by a campus aide overhearing a student say “something about a gun.” The “gun” turned out to be a brightly-colored toy nerf gun that fires harmless foam bullets, and the child in question hadn’t even brought the toy to school. “The 12-year-old boy told police he was talking to a classmate about his toy Nerf gun, which he left at home,” reports the NY Post, meaning the object that caused the panic was never even on campus. The two schools were locked down for over an hour with pupils kept inside as police with weapons drawn hunted down the deadly non-existent toy gun. “It’s nerve racking. There are police officers here with assault rifles and there are helicopters flying around. It’s really scary out here,” said parent Jacklyn Williams. http://www.infowars.com/discussion-about-toy-nerf-gun-causes-lockdown-at-bronx-elementary-schools/

Cultural Marxist Looney Bin Watch: Elementary School Girl Threatened With Arrest Over ‘Paper Gun’
A South Philadelphia elementary student was searched in front of classmates and threatened with arrest after she mistakenly brought a “paper gun” to school, yet another example of the hysteria sweeping America’s school system in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre. http://www.infowars.com/elementary-school-girl-threatened-with-arrest-over-paper-gun/

Cultural Marxist Insanity Watch: Six-Year-Old Suspended From Maryland School for Using Fingers as Gun
A six-year-old boy was suspended from school in Trappe, Maryland, for the grave offense of using his fingers as an imaginary gun in a game of cops and robbers — the second such suspension in the Old Line State this month. http://thenewamerican.com/culture/education/item/14248-six-year-old-suspended-from-maryland-school-for-using-fingers-as-gun

Land of the Free Watch: Green Bay Packers’ Security Personnel to Use TSA Style Security in Effort to Ratchet Up Safety Measures at Lambeau Field
Green Bay Packers fans should arrive early and expect some delays for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos as the team implements heightened security measures for the games at Lambeau Field this season. The National Football League is pushing for enhanced security, and starting with Sunday’s game at Lambeau, all fans will be subject to a hand-held, metal-detecting wand test before being admitted. http://www.activistpost.com/2011/09/green-bay-packers-security-personnel-to.html

EPA to Ban Lead Bullets
Several environmentalist groups led by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) are petitioning the EPA to ban lead bullets and shot (as well as lead sinkers for fishing) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Although EPA is barred by statute from controlling ammunition, CBD is seeking to work farther back along the manufacturing chain and have EPA ban the use of lead in bullets and shot because non-lead alternatives are available. But here’s the catch: the alternatives to lead bullets are more expensive. A ban on the sale of lead ammunition would force hunters and sport shooters to buy non-lead ammunition that is often double the cost of traditional lead ammunition. http://weeklystandard.com/blogs/epa-reviewing-request-ban-led-bullets

The Tribe, the Outsider and the Scapegoat
The leftist Mommy State now growing like a cancer in the U.S. wants to force all the boys and girls to share and get along. That may sort of work with five-year-olds, although not very well as any parent will attest, but it doesn’t work at all with adults. These days, forcing the boys and girls to “share” and “get along” is called “multiculturalism.” It has never worked in the past, anywhere. It doesn’t work now, anywhere, and it won’t in the future, ever. There are many reasons why it doesn’t work, but I think the simplest is what I call the Tribe, the Outsider and the Scapegoat. http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/authors/Wallace-Tribe-Outsider.html#BW

American Flag Deemed “Graffiti” and Painted Over
SUNOL, CAlif. — UPDATE: Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday that he was unhappy that the California Department of Transportation has painted over a mural of an American flag on a concrete slab near the Sunol Grade section of Interstate Highway 680 in unincorporated Alameda County near Sunol. In a prepared statement, Schwarzenegger called the flag patriotic and meaningful. He said that to remove the flag, “only a few days before we celebrate our independence and reflect on the freedoms we are lucky enough to enjoy in America is unconscionable. I extend my apologies to the artists whose mural inspired drivers along 680 for over eight and a half years.” http://www.ktvu.com/news/24117983/detail.html

Jolly Rancher lands TX 3rd-grader in Dentention for a Week
ORCHARD, Texas A third-grader at Brazos Elementary was given a week’s detention for possessing a Jolly Rancher. School officials in western Fort Bend County are defending the seemingly harsh sentence. The school’s principal and superintendent said they were simply complying with a state law that limits junk food in schools. But the girl’s parents say it’s a huge overreaction. http://www.khou.com/news/Candy-Gets-Third-Grader-A-Weeks-Detention-93033319.html
