Storm Clouds Gathering
This past week, we learned that the IRS has targeted for additional scrutiny the tax exemption applications of groups with whose messages it disagrees. We also learned that the Department of Justice obtained the personal telephone records of hundreds of reporters and editors employed by the Associated Press without a search warrant issued by a judge. And during this past week we learned that the White House, the Department of State and the CIA all engaged in a conspiracy of disinformation so that the official version of events of what caused the murders of four Americans at our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, would not impair Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012. The common threads in all of this government secrecy and lying are a general rejection of government’s moral obligation to tell the truth, a disturbing yet brazen willingness to evade and avoid the restrictions the Constitution has deliberately built around government, and a glib admission that the government can do as it pleases so long as it can politically get away with it. http://original.antiwar.com/andrew-p-napolitano/2013/05/15/storm-clouds-gathering/#.UZTqBGuG6k4.email

Obama’s Secret Army and Why We Should Fear It
While the President didn’t create this hybrid of the military and CIA, it operates under his command. JSOC is made up of the most elite soldiers in the world, and they follow Obama’s orders. The funding, which is in the billions of dollars, comes from taxpayers (the actual amount is classified); and there is zero Congressional oversight. http://personalliberty.com/2013/05/15/obamas-secret-army-and-why-we-should-fear-it/

Why We Should Mistrust the Government
It should come as no surprise that President Obama told Ohio State students at graduation ceremonies last week that they should not question authority and they should reject the calls of those who do. He argued that “our brave, creative, unique experiment in self-rule” has been so successful that trusting the government is the same as trusting ourselves; hence, challenging the government is the same as challenging ourselves. And he blasted those who incessantly warn of government tyranny. http://original.antiwar.com/andrew-p-napolitano/2013/05/08/why-we-should-mistrust-the-government/#.UYuhn7A8bp8.email

The Drug War Devolves in Honduras
Neither the military nor the DEA will suggest that their efforts are futile or even consider pulling back from the region. They are institutionally committed to the notion that brute force will in fact, prevail over the illicit drug market. Ditto for the State Department and the Office of Drug Control Policy, which sets the intensity level for fighting the drug war under each administration. Chasing the trade won’t destroy it, but it will continue to have horrific unintended consequences — like strengthening corrupt governments that hurt their people and keeping the black market alive, feeding gangs and endless violence. Just this week, the Associated Press reported an “unprecedented surge” of unaccompanied children jumping our southern border to get into the U.S from Central America, and Honduras in particular. Many of them don’t make it, and are sent back to lives made untenable by brutal poverty, gangs, and neglect. http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/the-drug-war-devolves-in-honduras/

Is Washington Deaf as Well as Criminal?
Israel is a tiny insignificant state, created by the careless British and the stupid americans. It has no power except what its american protector provides. Yet, despite Israel’s insignificance, it rules Washington. When a resolution introduced by the Israel Lobby is delivered to Congress, it passes unanimously. If Israel wants war, Israel gets its wish. When Israel commits war crimes against Palestinians and Lebanon and is damned by the hundred plus UN resolutions passed against Israel’s criminal actions, the U.S. bails Israel out of trouble with its veto. The power that tiny Israel exercises over the “worlds’s only superpower” is unique in history. Tens of millions of “christians” bow down to this power, reinforcing it, moved by the exhortations of their “christian” ministers. http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2012/08/16/is-washington-deaf-as-well-criminal/

Other than some minor insignificant detail, “your” government has been consistently lying to you about everything of importance. “Your” government lies to you, because “your” government has an agenda that it most certainly will not tell you about, because if you knew what it is, you would revolt. Putting down the revolt would divert the government from its agenda. Americans Are Being Prepared For Full Spectrum Tyranny
As with the oppressive regimes of the past, America has undergone a dramatic transformation, heavy with fear and ignorance. Our tradition of elections has been corrupted and negated by the false left/right paradigm, and the leaderships of both defunct parties now seek only to elevate a select minority of men bent on globalization. Our Constitutional liberties have been dismantled by legal chicanery. Our principles have been diluted by intellectual games of rationalism and moral relativism. Our country is ripe for conquest. Americans battle over whose side is most to blame; Democrat or Republican, while ironically being disenchanted with both entities. For some people, the thought of holding each party equally accountable, or accepting that they are essentially the same animal, never crosses their minds. While this irrelevant farce of a debate rages on, the true culprits plotting the demise of our Republic gain momentum, and implement policy initiatives that the public should and must take note of. In the past year alone, many blatant steps towards the Orwellian gulag have been openly administered. A carnival of peddlers and freaks and greasy popcorn overwhelms our senses, but the stench of this cheap circus still tickles our noses, and if we use our eyes for even a moment, certain dangerous trends reveal themselves. Here are just a few recent events that bear a dire warning; the ultimate assault on freedom in this nation grows near. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/guest-post-americans-are-being-prepared-full-spectrum-tyranny

Land of the Free Watch: U.S. Army Chief Says Military Will Be Used To Provide ‘Rapid Response Options’ and Address ‘Challenges in the United States Itself’
As the Department of Homeland Security and local law enforcement fuse into a single militarized policing apparatus for the whole of America through the use of massive surveillance warehouses, eye-in-the-sky drones and hybrid task forces, the U.S. military will continue to expand it’s role in domestic affairs, including in the event of natural disasters and terror related crises. So says Army Chief of Staff Raymond Odierno, who recently penned an article in Foreign Affairs, a propaganda mouthpiece published by the Council of Foreign Relations, an organization well known for having its hand in the economic, financial, social, military and political policies of every developed nation on Earth. http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/domestic-deployment-u-s-army-chief-says-military-will-be-used-to-provide-rapid-response-options-and-address-challenges-in-the-united-states-itself_06142012

Acknowledging the Arrival of Peak Government
We can now see that the Central State faces an impossible contradiction: to pursue its primary purpose of protecting the citizenry from predation, it is granted powers that enable it to evade its own self-limiting mechanisms. Private concentrations of wealth gain control over the State’s machinery of governance, and the resulting partnership of private and State elites suppress the mechanisms that were intended to limit private influence over State power. To enhance their own power, these elites increase the State’s reach until it dominates the entire political, social, and economic system. This sets up an inherently self-destructive feedback loop in which the State’s actions to protect its self-serving elites weaken both the State and the nation. The State’s inefficiencies pressure the nation’s output, even as the State increases its share of the national income to maintain its self-serving elites and quiet its potentially restive dependents. The more the State expropriates, the less surplus is left for productive investment, and so the nation’s output continues to decline. This dynamic creates a positive feedback loop (i.e., a death spiral) of higher taxes and lower investment in productive assets. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/acknowledging-arrival-peak-government

Why the Drug War Won’t Be Terminated
Central America has become the most dangerous place on Earth. The prevalence of organized crime, corruption, and inordinate rates of homicide has “metastasized,” as this new report from the Council on Foreign Relations describes it. The U.S. has flooded the region’s states with security assistance and aggressively pushed for a militarized approach to organized crime and drug trafficking. Together with prohibitionist drug policies which significantly increases profits for cartels, the “ironfisted” war-like approach has compounded the problem and intensified violence. Even as the report concedes that much about the dominant U.S. approach to Central America has “ultimately failed to ensure greater public security,” it recommends essentially that same approach, only tweaked. http://www.antiwar.com/blog/2012/04/03/why-the-drug-war-wont-be-terminated/

Forty years ago today, a Congressionally mandated commission on US drug policy did something extraordinary: they told the truth about marijuana. On March 22, 1972, the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse – chaired by former Pennsylvania Governor Raymond P. Shafer – recommended that Congress amend federal law so that the use and possession of cannabis would no longer be a criminal offense. State legislatures, the Commission added, should do likewise. http://lewrockwell.com/armentano-p/armentano-p52.1.html

Dawn of the Drones: The Realization of the Total Surveillance State
Imagine a robot hovering overhead as you go about your day, driving to and from work, heading to the grocery store, or stopping by a friend’s house. The robot records your every movement with a surveillance camera and streams the information to a government command center. If you make a wrong move, or even appear to be doing something suspicious, the police will respond quickly and you’ll soon be under arrest. Even if you don’t do anything suspicious, the information of your whereabouts, including what stores and offices you visit, what political rallies you attend, and what people you meet will be recorded, saved and easily accessed at a later date. It is a frightening thought, but you don’t have to imagine this scenario. We are only a few years away from the realization of this total surveillance society. http://www.blacklistednews.com/Dawn_of_the_Drones%3A_The_Realization_of_the_Total_Surveillance_State_/17969/0/0/0/Y/M.html

The field is filled with slaves, bent down, fingers scarred, dutifully picking cotton. You are not the overseer. You would be lucky to be his horse. Land of the Free Watch: TSA Releases VIPR Venom on Tennessee Highways
by Ron Paul. If you thought the Transportation Security Administration would limit itself to conducting unconstitutional searches at airports, think again. The agency intends to assert jurisdiction over our nation’s highways, waterways, and railroads as well. TSA launched a new campaign of random checkpoints on Tennessee highways last week, complete with a sinister military-style acronym — VIPR — as a name for the program. As with TSA’s random searches at airports, these roadside searches are not based on any actual suspicion of criminal activity or any factual evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever by those detained. They are, in effect, completely random. So first we are told by the U.S. Supreme Court that American citizens have no 4th Amendment protections at border crossings, even when standing on U.S. soil. Now TSA takes the next logical step and simply detains and searches U.S. citizens at wholly internal checkpoints. The slippery slope is here. When does it end? How many more infringements on our liberties, our property, and our basic human rights to travel freely will it take before people become fed up enough to demand respect from their government? When will we demand that the government heed obvious constitutional limitations and stop treating ordinary Americans as criminal suspects in the absence of probable cause? http://original.antiwar.com/paul/2011/10/24/tsa-releases-vipr-venom-on-tennessee-highways/

The War on Drugs Has Become the War on the American People
So far this year, approximately 1,313,673 individuals have been arrested for drug-related offenses. Police arrested an estimated 858,408 persons for marijuana violations in 2009. Of those charged with marijuana violations, approximately 89 percent were charged with possession only. Moreover, since December 31, 1995, the U.S. prison population has grown an average of 43,266 inmates per year, with about 25 percent sentenced for drug law violations. The foot soldiers in the government’s increasingly fanatical war on drugs, particularly marijuana, are state and local police officers dressed in SWAT gear and armed to the hilt. These SWAT teams carry out roughly 50,000 no-knock raids every year in search of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. http://lewrockwell.com/whitehead/whitehead35.1.html

Feds: States Have No Rights
Talk about a financial cost to taxpayers: the cost of incarcerating tens and hundreds of thousands of harmless, nonviolent drug users–not to mention the cost of investigating, arresting, arraigning, and trying them–literally dwarfs whatever the cost would be to let them live peacefully in society, or even to allow churches and special-needs ministries and hospitals to treat them. But a few things the “war on drugs” does accomplish is it serves as a major reason to increase federal funding for all kinds of Gestapo-like tactics at every level of government; it provides justification for governmental restrictions of civil liberties; and it is a major excuse for the exponential growth of the emerging police state. And dare I even mention the fact that it is now absolutely certain that persons (at the highest levels) and agencies within the federal government have been (and are) reaping gargantuan profits via illegal drug trafficking. http://newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin670.htm

And, might I remind you, all of this construction, of monuments, prisons, bases and office space (2.2 billion square feet for the U.S. military alone) and all these rules and regulations cost lots of money to be eternally loaned by we the people and from interested investors. The Unabomber in Washington
The more I think of the processes of isolated thinking, the more I am convinced that such a restricted mindset precisely describes life in Washington, D.C. With the Beltway helping to isolate this city from the rest of the country – or world – the practitioners of a realpolitik fashioned from shared basic premises can talk to one another with the same self-assurance attending the inner conversation every neurotic conducts within himself. Who is to disagree? Where is there to be heard a discouraging word? Oh, sure, a Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich, or one or another dissenting voice, may try to disrupt the dominant single-mindedness of purpose. Even the resident of a remote shack in Montana must have heard occasional words of peace and reason during his stay. What passes for debate in Washington sounds more like Lilliputians arguing over which end of a boiled egg to be opened than it does a morally principled or analytically sound inquiry preceding governmental action. Nor do establishment news flacks – whether of electronic or ink persuasion – exhibit any disposition to raise questions that would appeal to intelligent minds. Why Government Can’t Be Reformed
As long as you do not live under a rock, you know that the Federal Government prances along on its merry way of central control, no matter who is in office. The traits of arrogance and aloofness are a prerequisite to retain your employment. This pattern of myopic understanding of the precepts of federalism, separation of powers or the nature of a public servant is the primary aptitude of the professional political class. Whether a lowly intern, a career civil employee, a chairman of a Congressional committee or the head of bureaucratic agency; the steamroller of public destruction buries common citizens under the weight of oppressive dictates. Even if you ignore the politics, you cannot dismiss the debt. The foremost threat to any remote possibility of reform is a burden that is beyond repayment. Most have seen the national debt ticker of the $14 plus trillion owed. That amount is a mere drop in the bucket of the total obligations owed because of past federal government promises. http://etherzone.com/2011/sart021611.shtml

The state of civil liberties and national security in the United States is alarming. In the American Empire, the former are routinely crippled or lacerated in the false name of the latter. Trust in government plunges. Dangers are magnified manifold to wound constitutionally venerated freedoms. International terrorist suspects who have never attempted to kill an American are treated as existential threats to U.S sovereignty. Predator drones employed off the battlefield in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Yemen are spawning more enemies than are killed. Habeas corpus is suspended. Military commissions denuded of due process and which combine judge, jury, and prosecutor in a single branch of government are substituted for independent civilian courts. Time-honored privacy rights are trampled. Torture or first cousin enhanced interrogation techniques are endorsed. Congressman Peter King (R. People are asking, “Is the government doing us more harm than good? Should we change what it does and the way it does it?”
Pruning the power of government begins with the imperial presidency.
Too many overreaching laws give the president too much discretion to make too many open-ended rules controlling too many aspects of our lives. There’s no end to the harm an out-of-control president can do.

Why are taxpayers footing the bill for “non-essential employees?” Why not let them stay at home and save the taxpayer the expense of their unnecessary labors? Only government employs non-essential employees and proclaims them as such to the world, as if we the taxpayers are so numbed to the idea that unnecessary government surrounds us that we will yawn when word comes that government bureaucrats have been sent home because they aren’t needed at work anyway. http://www.newswithviews.com/Emord/jonathan122.htm
