On the Western Tendency to Moral Universalism
Europeans are on the individualist side of the individualism/collectivist dimension, but they don’t completely lack mechanisms of ethnic cohesion. White people still have mechanisms of attraction to our own kind and we have ingroup/outgroup mechanisms that make us devalue others. We see manifestations of this all the time, but in 21st-century America, these preferences are implicit rather than explicit—Implicit Whiteness. http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2011/03/on-the-western-tendency-to-moral-universalism/

Can We Live Free in an Unfree World
Google labs has a analytical app for published books, called the ngram viewer. You can use it to check a phrase or word for frequency of usage in published books all the way back to the early 1800s. The word “liberty” has drastically and steadily fallen out of favor, after a high point in 1800, while the word “freedom” has seen its popularity spike in the war years of 1940s and 1960s. Is there a difference between liberty and freedom? There might be. Liberty seems to stand on its own, a condition of being free to choose, to act, to move and to think. Freedom is also a condition, but it is more associated with what might be allowed or granted. One of the definitions of freedom is “a country’s right to self rule” whereas liberty is more closely associated with the individual’s right to choice and action. As the 20th century has been the century of nationalism, of the rise of the state, and not unrelated, record-setting democide, the murder of human beings by the state, it is logical that we would talk about freedom, but give short shrift to fundamental liberty. So what we have today, in the US and around the world is technology and information availability that feeds and informs the ideas of liberty and human freedom, coexistent with a massive national and global state apparatus that uses the same technology to indoctrinate and to encourage large groups of people to consent and conform to that state. Love of liberty and trust in decentralization, in peace, in our fellow man is spreading, even as the state uses the same technological world to centralize operations, consolidate control, spread fear, promote statism and facilitate social atomization, such that community and family ties are weakened and less influential. http://www.lewrockwell.com/kwiatkowski/kwiatkowski265.html

Jihad Hunters vs. the Neo-Cons
When David Horowitz starts throwing around the label “neoconservative” as if it were a four-letter word, you know a real schism is at hand. That’s because right-wing jihad hunters like Horowitz, Caroline Glick and others are reaching levels of near hysteria over the prospect of Islamic movements gaining political power in a post-revolution Middle East, particularly right now in Egypt. Sure, they believe everyone has the inalienable right to freedom, but not if they live on “hostile soil” or when it is not in America’s “core regional interests.” Under those circumstances, the despots and dictators—as long as they are pro-western and maintain vital security agreements with Israel—are always preferred. http://original.antiwar.com/vlahos/2011/03/28/jihad-hunters-vs-the-neocons/

Obama’s War
In ordering air and naval strikes on a country that neither threatened nor attacked the United States, did President Obama commit an impeachable act? So it would seem. For the framers of the Constitution were precise. The power to declare war is entrusted solely to Congress. From King William’s War to Queen Anne’s War to King George’s War to the Seven Years’ War, the colonists had had their fill of royal wars. To no principle were they more committed than that the power to declare war must be separate from the power to wage it. And Obama usurped that power. http://vdare.com/buchanan/110328_obamas_war.htm

Inside What Job?
“Inside Job”, The Academy Award documentary film about the current financial crisis is a worthy documentary, and it certainly delivers on many fronts. It explains the disastrous shift within the American financial industry over the last decade, exposing the elements, the decisions and the people who destabilised the global economy. In doing so, it provides an insight into the systematic, faulty structures that transformed American financial services industry markets into a risky bubble. And it also explains why the bubble eventually burst. http://www.gilad.co.uk/writings/gilad-atzmon-inside-what-job-a-film-review.html#entry10942204

Memo From Middle America
We’re constantly informed in the mainstream media (MSM) that the continued growth and organized power of the U.S. hispanic community is inevitable and a great thing anyway. If you even question it, be prepared to be called “racist” or other ugly names. Curiously though, hispanic activists can gloat over their growing power without being called “racists”. A recent CNN column by Ruben Navarrette, Jr., is a case in point – he says the hispanicization of the U.S. is inevitable and should not be resisted. http://vdare.com/awall/110325_memo.htm

Another Evil Little War
Twelve years ago, Bill Clinton launched an evil little war in the Balkans, attacking what was then Yugoslavia because he could. The best indicator of that were the ever-changing pretexts for the war, from imposing a “peace” ultimatum and “protecting refugees” (created by the bombing) to stopping a (fictitious) “genocide.” Four years later, when Bush the Lesser invaded Iraq, his pretexts were less humanitarian, but no less fictitious. The pattern was obvious even then. Today, the Nobel Peace Prize stands worthless as the Empire engages in yet another evil little war, this time in North Africa. Imperial policy has come full circle, with Barack Obama managing to combine the Clinton restoration with the Bush continuity. http://original.antiwar.com/malic/2011/03/25/another-evil-little-war/

This outrageous statement recently was delivered to the American people by a DHS lawyer in arguments before the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which is considering a challenge to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) nude body scanner devices. Target Israel, Not Libya
On April 9, 1986, Ronald Reagan called Muammar el Gaddafi the “mad dog of the Middle East.” Today, after an imposed no-fly zone, war rages to remove him. For decades, he ruled despotically, punishing enemies, rewarding friends. His days may now be numbered. Washington won’t quit until he’s gone, no matter how many corpses it takes to achieve it. In fact, however, a far greater Middle East menace threatens the entire region, the Israeli war machine based in Jerusalem. Besides illegally occupying Palestine, brutalizing Palestinians daily, persecuting Israeli Arabs, threatening and attacking its neighbors, its longstanding plan calls for dividing and dominating the region. In fact, it’s nightmarish vision calls for partitioning Arab nations into small states – balkanizing them along ethnic and sectarian lines as Israeli satellites, controllable satraps. The idea is modeled after the Ottoman Empire’s Millet system under which local authorities governed confessional communities with separate ethnic identities. http://www.countercurrents.org/lendman260311.htm

The Horrific Life of the Police Officer
Few people in the world seem to appreciate just how awful it is to be a government police officer. It’s not that the job involves particularly physically demanding work, or that the job is particularly dangerous. In fact, the work is not nearly physically demanding enough (as the cop fatness problem demonstrates), and neither is it particularly dangerous (being a cop doesn’t even make the top ten most dangerous jobs). Nor is the job terrible because of the unstated obligation to wear a tawdry mustache in public. Instead, what makes the job so horrific is the fact that it requires living a completely contradictory moral life. http://www.lewrockwell.com/crovelli/crovelli58.1.html

Romance Isn’t Dead, It’s Just Criminal
Women wonder: What happened to romantic gestures and seizing the moment. Is romance dead? Where is my Prince Charming?
Where is a man who will “sweep me off my feet”? Well, he certainly isn’t employed at your workplace or attending your educational institution, and here’s why: what you call “sweeping you off your feet” or “making a romantic gesture” the law now calls “sexual harassment”, and people lose their jobs and get expelled from universities for it. Does this sound incredible? Shouldn’t the kind of behavior qualifying as “sexual harassment” be completely outrageous, something that regular people would never do? Good guys just trying to be romantic shouldn’t be at risk of crossing over into that territory, right? Wrong. http://www.the-spearhead.com/2011/03/21/romance-isnt-dead-its-just-criminal/

Poor Little Oppressed White People
Jamie Kelso is an unlikely manipulator of the masses, but the activist and web-radio host scored a definite coup when he was filmed engaging a group of young people at this February’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Thus far, the clip has been viewed some 30,000 times on YouTube and has even inspired a convoluted essay by a neoconservative academic. Kelso’s arguments were sound, based in reason, history, evolutionary theory, and the natural desire to treasure one’s own. He presented a moderate, reasonable case for racialism, one noticeably lacking in the Sieg Heils, Swastika tattoos, howls of “White Power!” and other accoutrements of the far Right one sees on TV. Not surprisingly, Kelso was denounced as a hater by a moustachioed hipster from Campaign for Liberty. He also elicited some non-sequitur responses about how it was only Democrats who supported lynching and the Ku Klux Klan, as well as bewildered stares from the smartly dressed young women hovering around him. http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2011/03/poor-little-oppressed-white-people/

Which Way White Man?
The advantage of Whites in North America is their racial and linguistic unity stretching from Alaska to Arkansas, from San Francisco to Boston. This unique phenomenon, coupled with implicit racial awareness, still enables America to thrive as a global superpower. White Americans, regardless of their diverse European roots, can freely use the word “nationalism” given that this word has a specific all-White European meaning on the North American continent. The issue that needs to be addressed, however, is not how the rapid balkanization of America, largely caused by the uncontrolled immigration of non-Whites, represents a threat for Whites. Rather, the crucial point is how much racial and cultural consciousness the remaining two hundred million White Americans are willing to muster. Have they ever tried? Can they? http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2011/03/which-way-white-man-part-1/

CIA Rambo Escapes Pakistan
The Raymond Davis crisis is over – at least in Washington. But not in Pakistan, where public fury over Islamabad’s crass sellout is boiling. The Davis case will confirm the growing belief among most Pakistanis that their nation has been de facto occupied by the United States as part of its war in Afghanistan. What else could they conclude when American Rambos and spies run amok in Pakistan and U.S. Predator drones pound its northwest frontier? Or as they watch Pakistan’s once proud soldiers, now turned sepoys of the new Raj, stand at attention to receive Pentagon orders. On Thursday, at least 41 Pakistani civilians were killed by U.S. air strikes along the northwest frontier – just as the Obama Administration was threatening war against Libya for doing the same thing. Even the unloved former president, Pervez Musharraf, claims right after 9/11, Washington “put a gun to our head” and told him to either accept U.S. semi-occupation of Pakistan or be bombed back to the Stone Age. This meant U.S. use of Pakistan’s major ports, depots, key airfields, radar sites, intelligence service ISI, security police, and 120,000 troops. http://www.lewrockwell.com/margolis/margolis233.html

The video dates from 2007 and shows Biden, then preparing for a presidential run, appearing on the Chris Matthews show on MSNBC. In the video Biden is asked if he sticks by comments that bombing Iranian interests without Congressional approval would be an impeachable offense, to which he replies he absolutely does. The video was posted at the top of The Drudge Report earlier today, a website that conservatively receives 36 million visits per day, making it the most highly ranked news website on the web. Racial Reality at 12,000 Feet
Yesterday’s AR News posting, “Sierra Club: Youthful, Diverse, Enthusiastic,” struck a chord with me. First, I’m an ex-“Sierran,” and the pictures in the Sierra Club’s Diversity Statement don’t look like any Sierra Club function I ever attended. The Sierra Club is one of the least diverse organizations in the United States. It is overwhelmingly white and middle class, ranking high on any list of “Stuff White People Like.” I’ve gone on hundreds of hikes, backpacking trips, and canoe expeditions over the past 30 years—most with the club—and I’ve never seen more than a handful of minorities and they were mostly Asians. Obama’s Foolish and Unconstitutional War
Yet, again, why are we bombing Libya? Gadhafi did not attack the West. He faced an uprising to dethrone him and rallied his troops to crush it, as any ruthless ruler would have done. We have no vital interest in who wins his civil war. Indeed, Gadhafi has asked of Obama, “If you found them taking over American cities by force of arms, what would you do?” Well, when the South fired on Fort Sumter, killing no one, Abraham Lincoln blockaded every Southern port, sent Gen. Sherman to burn Atlanta and pillage Georgia and South Carolina, and Gen. Sheridan to ravage the Shenandoah. He locked up editors and shut down legislatures and fought a four-year war of reconquest that killed 620,000 Americans—a few more than have died in Gadhafi’s four-week war. Good thing we didn’t have an “international community” back then. The Royal Navy would have been bombarding Lincoln’s America. http://vdare.com/buchanan/110322_obama_foolish_war.htm

Liberals March to War
Now that the United States has bankrupted itself by spending more on “defense” than the rest of the world combined, the “multilateralists” take up the task of convincing the American people they’ve got to pursue the dream of empire to the very end. Oh no, they say, we’re good “liberals,” we don’t dream of empire – only of “international law” and a “global order.” Top dog? Not us! We’ll leave that onerous job to the UN Security Council. Yes, and you’ll note the Obama-ites went to the Council, not the Congress, to ask permission to strike: and just to show we’re not the Top Dog, they let the Brits and the Frenchies take the lead. What generosity. The “argument” presented here is the one progressives have salved their perpetually guilty consciences with ever since this manifestly unqualified ex-“community organizer” took up residence in the White House: he’s not Bush! That’s why they remained silent when he extended our perpetual “war on terrorism” into Pakistan, why they kept mum as the PATRIOT Act was reauthorized at the behest of the administration, and why they put the covers over their heads and stuck their fingers in their ears as George Bush’s torture regime continued, unabated and even expanded, under Obama. It’s why they ignored our failure to withdraw from Iraq, as promised by candidate Obama, and why they smiled politely and changed the subject whenever anyone had the poor taste to mention these unpleasant subjects. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2011/03/22/liberals-march-to-war/

Libya and the Familiar Patterns of War
It is striking how wars — no matter how they’re packaged — ultimately breed the same patterns. With public opinion split or even against the war in Libya (at least for now) — and with questions naturally arising about why we’re intervening here to stop the violence but ignoring the growing violence from our good friends in Yemen, Bahrain and elsewhere — the administration obviously knows that some good, old-fashioned fear-mongering and unique demonization (Gadaffi is a Terrorist with “deadly mustard gas” who might attack us!!) can only help. Then there’s the fact that the same faction of war-loving-from-a-safe-distance “hawks” that took the lead in cheering for the attack on Iraq — neocons on the Right and their “liberal interventionist” counterparts in The New Republic/Brookings/Democratic Party officialdom world — are playing the same role here. http://www.commondreams.org/view/2011/03/19-6

Success of Military Action Against Gadhafi is Anything But Sure
Moammar Gadhafi controls 80 percent of Libya, and has all the necessary resources. If the coalition is not prepared to destroy Gadhafi’s entire air defense and air force with massive air strikes, they won’t be able to do much to actually enforce a no-fly zone. But in the US, the inclination to get involved on a large scale isn’t very great. Obama has explicitly ruled out the use of ground troops and a longer commitment. It’s not clear what they hope to achieve with the military action. If it’s about protecting civilians from Gadhafi, the coalition would have to engage in a month-long attack. For Gaddafi has time, he can wait. Bernd Riegert, head of the Europe deskIntervention from the outside only makes sense if it aims to remove Gadhafi’s regime. To that end, it would be necessary to carry out deliberate and massive strikes against the government facilities in Tripoli and the suspected whereabouts of Gadhafi. http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,14925407,00.html

Voter Apathy Could Help Far-Right in State Election in Germany
The eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt is holding elections on Sunday, but turnout is expected to be below 40 percent. Voters have been turned off by the lack of debate between the two largest parties, the CDU and SPD, which appear content to continue with their governing coalition. The far-right NPD could benefit as a result of the growing disenchantment with democracy. http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,751728,00.html

U.S. Cost of Living Hits Record, Passing Pre-Crisis High
One would think that after the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, Americans could at least catch a break for a while with deflationary forces keeping the cost of living relatively low. That’s not the case. A special index created by the Labor Department to measure the actual cost of living for Americans hit a record high in February, according to data released Thursday, surpassing the old high in July 2008. The Chained Consumer Price Index, released along with the more widely-watched CPI, increased 0.5 percent to 127.4, from 126.8 in January. In July 2008, just as the housing crisis was tightening its grip, the Chained Consumer Price Index hit its previous record of 126.9. http://m.cnbc.com/us_news/42130406

A Farewell Address
We ignore George Washington at our peril. Our first president as well as Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and Adams predicted ruin for a republic that would involve itself in foreign politics. The founders also foresaw and warned against what we now call democracy promotion, the urge to fan the flames started by the American revolution to launch a crusade to convert the nations of the world into firebreathing republicans. James Madison’s Secretary of State John Quincy Adams described it as “going abroad in search of monsters to destroy.” The United States is currently involved in a number of conflicts in which it has no imaginable interest while the nation seems to wallow in an orgy of military-worship. http://original.antiwar.com/giraldi/2011/03/16/a-farewell-address/

Escape From America Continues
We at the Sovereign Society have noted sadly that each year hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens and resident aliens have left America to make a new home in other nations, even though most of them do not renounced U.S citizenship. Admittedly, that number pales against the millions clamoring to get into the U.S., legally and otherwise. But there’s a huge difference in the economic status of these two groups. Although the current recession has slowed the pace, those seeking admission (or just illegally crossing our borders) are, by and large, poverty stricken persons desperately trying to better their lot with a new life in the Promised Land. They’ll settle for low-paying jobs, welfare, free education for their kids, and U.S. taxpayer subsidized housing and health care. Those leaving are the wealthy and the talented – those who have had enough, thank you. http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig11/bauman-b6.1.1.html

The Real Risks to America’s Security
It seems rather silly now, doesn’t it, all the US concern about terrorism? The nuclear crisis in Japan, which continues to worsen, threatens to become a total multiple meltdown, combined with the perhaps even more disastrous explosion and fire in one or several spent fuel rod ponds. If any of these things happen, not to mention many of them, several hundred square miles of Japan would be rendered indefinitely uninhabitable, costing hundreds of billions of dollars. And it could be worse. If the winds are blowing south during such a disaster, all of Tokyo, which has a metropolitan population of over 30 million, could have to be evacuated. A study by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission back in 1997, found that one spend fuel disaster could devastate almost 200 square miles of the US, and cause half a trillion dollars in damage! And we’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year chasing after a few thousand ragtag Taliban fighters and supposedly pursuing a few hundred Arab terrorists, most of whom are fighting back with their shoes and their underwear? http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article27699.htm

Unbelievably, after experiencing 10 years of quagmire in Afghanistan and Iraq, the American foreign policy establishment is now clamoring for the institution of a no-fly zone in Libya. Luminaries on both the Left and the Right have endorsed the concept: for example, Senators John Kerry, Joe Lieberman, and John McCain. Even though the U.S. military would have to first attack Libyan radars, air defenses, runways, aircraft, and command, control, and communication facilities, John Kerry argued that a no-fly zone was not a military operation. Corporate Stash Soars to $1.9 Trillion, But Nowhere to Invest
Two and a half years have passed since Lehman Brothers collapsed and US consumers are still digging out. Last Thursday, the Fed released its “flow of funds” report which showed that households had trimmed their debt to $13.3 trillion in the forth quarter (4Q). But the crucial debt-to-income ratio remains significantly above trend at 120.9%. That means that consumers will have to cut their spending even more. During the boom years, (2000 to 2007) households more than doubled their debt by taking advantage of cheap, easily-available credit for purchasing mortgages, refinancing homes and maintaining their standard of living. Homeowners were able to drain (roughly) $500 billion per year from their rising home equity to spend as they pleased. The credit-binge stimulated demand, increased employment, and created a virtuous circle of profitability and growth. But now the process has slammed into reverse triggering a wave of foreclosures, bankruptcies and defaults. Consumers have been retrenching for 11 straight quarters trying to patch their balance sheets after sustaining heavy losses during the crisis. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article27688.htm

As America grapples with its black/white conundrum daily on various outbursts across the nation, i.e., Harvard professor Henry Luis Gates with Cambridge police sergeant James Crowley; the latest being Juan Williams at NPR; or the latest implosion at NPR with racial slurs–we face even greater dilemmas as we create four new ethnic tribal dynamics via relentless immigration. What four you ask? As we immigrate millions of legal and illegal immigrants from Arabic and Spanish cultures—we now have four major tribes competing for dominance within the United States. As their numbers increase, watch for more confrontations from Chinese, Indian and African tribes. As different tribes grow in numbers, they manifest their power as to language, tribal practices, voting and cultural dominances. The media are cautiously beginning to note that the earthquake/tsunami in Japan has not resulted in a single reported case of looting or even disorderly behavior. Dazed residents have gone back to smashed houses to salvage what they can, but no one worries about thieves. Thousands of homeless line up quietly and politely as they wait for emergency food and water. The contrast with what happened after the Haiti earthquake last January or Hurricane Katrina in 2005 could not be more stark. In both cases, there was an almost immediate descent into savagery, with police officers joining in the looting. You Can Stop Worrying About a Radiation Disaster in Japan

I repeat, there was and will *not* be any significant release of radioactivity from the damaged Japanese reactors. By “significant” I mean a level of radiation of more than what you would receive on – say – a long distance flight, or drinking a glass of beer that comes from certain areas with high levels of natural background radiation. I have been reading every news release on the incident since the earthquake. There has not been one single report that was accurate and free of errors (and part of that problem is also a weakness in the Japanese crisis communication). By “not free of errors” I do not refer to tendentious anti-nuclear journalism – that is quite normal these days. By “not free of errors” I mean blatant errors regarding physics and natural law, as well as gross misinterpretation of facts, due to an obvious lack of fundamental and basic understanding of the way nuclear reactors are build and operated. I have read a 3 page report on CNN where every single paragraph contained an error. http://www.businessinsider.com/japan-reactors-pose-no-risk-2011-3#ixzz1Ggw8lkTx

David Broder, Rodney King, And ‘We Whites’

David Broder (left)
Of the many hundreds of David Broder’s columns that we could cite in tribute, this one from May 1992 stands out because it shows his fundamental honesty as he confronts his own—and the country’s—failings when its comes to healing the scars of slavery and racism. So, of the bazillion or so words that Broder wrote in a half-century of political pontificating, the chosen column, originally published on May 5, 1992 in the wake of the Rodney King riots, was the one in which he supposedly admits his own racism. The modern liberal is thus defined. Funny thing is, in the column Broder doesn’t seem to “confront” his failings—but instead subtly congratulates himself for overcoming them and then finds them in others, namely everyone else. That defines modern liberalism too. http://vdare.com/morgan/110314_whites.htm

Europeans Divided on Israel
The Middle East is not the only region witnessing a growing disconnect between governments and people. In Europe, a major survey has shown that governments there have become increasingly out of tune with the views of their people on the conflict in Palestine. This was one of the major findings of a poll carried out by the London-based polling institution ICM government and Social Research unit on behalf Al Jazeera Centre for Studies, the Middle East Monitor and the European Muslim Research Centre. The survey, the first of its kind to exclusively focus on European perceptions of the conflict, was conducted in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Britain. Since its creation in 1948, Europeans have empathised with the state of Israel. They showered it with unlimited diplomatic, political and military assistance; including a nuclear capability, courtesy of the French. The survey reveals that there is now a distinct lack of appetite to support practises that are manifestly illegal, unfair and oppressive. http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/opinion/2011/03/2011313305512849.html

Obama Doesn’t Get It
Barack Obama, the US president, has still not fully grasped the essence of the revolutions underway in the Arab world. He genuinely seems to believe that the people rallying for democracy in the region are making a pro-Western, if not pro-Israeli, statement. “All the forces that we’re seeing at work in Egypt are forces that naturally should be aligned with us, should be aligned with Israel – if we make good decisions now and we understand sort of the sweep of history,” Obama recently told a group of Democrats in Florida. I am not sure how Obama drew this conclusion, but he is either terribly misinformed or engaged in a serious bout of wishful thinking. His statements, however, echo the assessments of many American pundits, some of whom have been celebrating the fact that anti-Israeli or American slogans have not dominated the recent and ongoing uprisings. It is true that the protesters are not focusing on Israel. But to say that these forces could be natural allies of Israel and the West is to take a huge leap into a highly inaccurate assessment of the situation. The US president is misreading the message of the protesting Arab masses. http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/opinion/2011/03/20113911948670383.html

Our Time of Universal Deceit Needs An Orwell
by Paul Craig Roberts. If we were to be blessed with a 21st century George Orwell, he would coin a new “speak” to apply to “support the troops.” Would he call this “Deceptive Speak”? Or would he be more clever? The words certainly deserve an Orwellian name. The catch-phrase was rolled out the minute the war started, which makes one wonder about its public relations origin. Who can oppose supporting the troops, at least before we learned from WikiLeaks and Abu Ghraib of the intentional killing of civilians and torturing of whoever happened to be rounded up in the various sweeps? All for the fun and games of it. “Support the troops” originated in the public relations department of the military/security complex. What “support the troops” really means is to support the profits of the armaments industry and the neoconservative ideology of US world hegemony. “Support the troops” is a clever PR slogan that causes Americans to turn a blind eye to the brutal exploitation of our soldiers and military families for profit and for an evil ideology. Our soldiers and military families are paying for the Bush/Cheney/Obama/neocon wars with lives, limbs, post-traumatic stress, suicides, broken marriages, children without fathers, wives without husbands, and parents without sons and daughters. “Support the troops” is one of the most cruel hoaxes in human history, and yet the vast majority of the population has fallen for it. “War Is Peace.” http://www.vdare.com/roberts/110313_universal_deceit.htm

Keep Your Assets Hidden in Plain Sight
Sorry David Copperfield. No matter how good a magician you are, there are some assets that you can’t make vanish, and it has nothing to do with genetics. I’m talking about assets that have your name written all over them in the public record. It is hard to put real estate, vehicles, and other attention grabbing assets into a private safe somewhere. Even if you did, jealous ex boyfriends, business competitors, and shysters can still look you up and see what you have stashed away. The reason why your assets can make you so vulnerable is because the law requires that certain records be made available to the public. That includes some records with very revealing information about you and your stuff. It’s a lot like forcing you to go out in public with your fly open. Many of the websites that publish personal information, like Intelius and Lexis-Nexis, get a lot of their information from these public records. To make it harder for the curious and nefarious to tap juicy assets for personal information, you have to know where you are vulnerable. http://www.lewrockwell.com/rounds/rounds31.1.html

As previously reported, the U.S. State Department manages a vast array of extra-legal networks of NGOs, propaganda outlets, and organizations like Movements.org that are literally recruiting and training foreign protesters and supporting their efforts as they return home to incite unrest and regime change. It was described how Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was literally sitting on the Broadcasting Board of Governors which oversees “news agencies” like Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and Radio Free Asia. Washington Post has now revealed that the US State Department, Department of Defense, and the Broadcasting Board of Governors are all funding technology companies and NGOs (amusingly referred to as “human rights groups”) who are providing protesters across the Middle East and North Africa with means to facilitate their online activities including circumventing cyber-security measures employed by target nations. http://www.activistpost.com/2011/03/us-contracting-tech-firms-for.html

Sex and the City of Mean Girls
The girls who grew up watching Sex and the City during those crucial teenage years of looking for role models and examples of what a grown-up woman is supposed to be like are now approaching their 30th birthdays, closing in on the age of the show’s characters. And they have learned well, at least judging by the words of former teen icon Lindsay Lohan: “Sex and the City changed everything for me, because those girls would just sleep with so many people.” http://www.the-spearhead.com/2011/03/11/sex-and-the-city-of-mean-girls/

Dictatorship Watch: Alcohol Detectors Could Come Standard With a New Car
It’s called “The Roads Safe Act” and opponents claim it’s designed to put an alcohol detector in every car, just like an airbag or stereo. The device allows six violations, then the car won’t start at all. Experts say it is also set up to make sure drivers don’t try to cheat. http://www.prisonplanet.com/alcohol-detectors-could-come-standard-with-a-new-car.html

Gang Rape of 11-Year-Old Girl Sparks Racial Tensions in Texas Town
The alleged gang rape of an 11-year-old girl by at least 18 boys and young men has sparked shame and outrage in a tiny Texas town, but it has also stirred racial tensions that threaten to split the East Texas hamlet. All of the defendants arrested are African-American and the girl is Hispanic. The hardscrabble town of Cleveland, which is 45 miles from Houston, has fewer than 8,000 residents and since the saw mill closed the biggest employers are Wal-Mart and a nearby prison. In a town this small, everyone is a neighbor, but that small town ambience is being severely strained. http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2011/03/gang_rape_of_11.php

American Dreamers
It’s the voice of many millions of Americans who are under attack by their fellows who have been brainwashed into believing that the problem in their lives isn’t the John Galts who are gobbling up ever more of the nation’s wealth but their middle class neighbors who’ve been able to live a decent middle class life working at a decent middle class job. These are the people that the well-heeled Andrea Mitchells and Gloria Borgers of the world are saying must be willing to sacrifice for the greater good. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article27652.htm
